The Margaret River Golf Club is a private club open to both new members and visitors. Located in the heart of the Margaret River Wine Region just 5 minutes drive from the town centre on the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Coastal Ridge,  the 6092 metre par 72 course is now one of Western Australia’s most highly regarded country courses, with generous fairways and some challenges. It was created by a group of golfing enthusiasts in the early 1950s in a bushland cleared setting near the mouth of the Margaret River and winds its way up the slopes of the coastal ridge with the last 5 holes in particular affording spectacular views of the rolling countryside and vineyards. Golfers and those just out for a walk can enjoy the abundant flora and fauna, including geese, and many varieties of birds and the resident kangaroos are a major attraction for visitors. Apart from native planted species there are also magnificent examples of local trees including karri, jarrah, marri, paperbarks and peppermints.

Although not heavily bunkered the course features numerous water hazards mostly on the front nine holes which are generally flat. The back nine in particular require careful shot consideration owing to the undulating fairways and large trees. The course is always presented in excellent condition, much to the credit of local members and their volunteer efforts. The recent addition of grey water means the fairways can be maintained in excellent condition year round.

Visitors are welcome but are bookings are essential. Clubs, buggies and carts are available for hire at the on-course golf shop that also stocks balls, tees and a small range of equipment.
